“Dr. Um Is On Call for You” è il doppio album della Dr. Um Band capitanata da Peter Erskine, uscito il 6 aprile dello scorso anno per Fuzzy Music Records. Un album che raccoglie composizioni originali registrate in studio, più un elettrizzante live registrato in Italia la scorsa estate. Una scaletta di brani che ora la all-star-band porta sui palchi della Penisola dal 5 al 14 maggio.

Nota – Nell'attuale tour italiano Benjamin Shepherd (bassista che a breve assisterà alla nascita di suo figlio) viene sostituito da Damian Erskine, nipote di Peter e già presente nel suo New Trio. Dichiara Erskine: “I know that Damian will bring the funk as well as that all-important foundation to this music. Like friends, I choose my bass players wisely!”
“Dr. Um Is On Call for You” pone le radici nel passato di Erskine e dei Weather Report, la band che egli ha ascoltato sin dagli esordi ed in cui ha suonato per tre anni lasciando la sua marcata impronta. enigma, drama and heart. […] I was an avid listener to their music since its inception (and even before its inception, having listened to messrs. Zawinul, Shorter and Pastorius in their previous musical settings…” Insomma, ogni brano di questo album è un modo per ringraziare i grandi Maestri che hanno ispirato Erskine: “we felt that each tune represented a giant contribution made by each of the designated heroes. It is simply our way of saying thanks!”
“Dr. Um Is On Call for You” propone anche la registrazione del live di Occhiobello (Rovigo) avvenuto nel corso del tour del 2017: una performance particolarmente coinvolgente che lo stesso Erskine ha sentito il bisogno di condividere con tutto il suo pubblico.
